How My 25 Begins

What a birthday. I am officially turned into quarter life crisis (only if I can life for a hundred year).

My best friends slept over in my apartment the night before my birthday. They brought me to McD Kelapa Dua at 00.30 AM and celebrated my birthday there by singing Happy Birthday loudly. So sweet.

Yet I was rushed to the hospital few hours later as my allergic got worst. Half of my face was swollen, reddish and itchy. So awful!

We arrived in the emergency unit at 2.30 AM. I got an anti-allergic injection immediately and went better in half an hour interval. My friends slept in the waiting room while waiting for the reaction of injection. One of them slept next to me in the hospital’s bed. It is so sweet of them. We went back to my apartment at 3.30 AM

When I woke up in the morning, I found my condition was much better. I felt so glad. As we got hungry, me and my friends went to eat chicken porridge for breakfast. Unexpectedly, we got trapped in the elevator on our way back to my room on the 21st floor. Thank God that we were still in the ground floor when the elevator got stuck. After half an hour of execution, we successfully got out from the damaged elevator.

I packed my stuff once my friends went home. I got a flight back to Medan that afternoon. By night around 9 PM that day, I was already in Medan eating Chinese food with my family. My fam bought me a birthday cake on our way home,

I checked my FB before ended up the day and found heaps of people congratulated me for my birthday.

I really feel special on my 25th b-day.

My wish for 25th is to start my master study soon, graduate with distinction, start a permanent career and start a family.

Ps. I had enough of traveling the last few years so I guess I’ll stop wishing for more travel. ;)

Happy 25th Dear Myself! =)

Working on a Project: Having My Own First Property

In my personal opinion, owning your own property is an integral part for being an independent young and grown up person. And I am all on it!

Just like most everything in life happens by coincidence, this as well.

About one and half year ago I visited my former university, Universitas Indonesia, in Depok to get the copy of my certificate because at that time I wanted to apply several scholarships (which I eventually got btw).

When I was about to eat in one my favorite restaurants in Depok, I walked through the construction of a new apartment.

I was crazy about financial management that time. So it just came in my mind when I saw the construction that I wanted to invest in that property too.

Without even notice it, my feet brought me to the marketing office of the apartment. Two days later I paid the down payment.

Time goes by. With the blessing of God (and my parents), I finally paid off the apartment under my own name. Repeat: my own name. My very own property, hell yeah!

The apartment finished few months ago and I got the key exactly a month ago. Little that I know that there is still a LOT to do before I could live there decently.

Here is the list:

1. Interior design

To do: browsing on the internet for the favorable design, visit few interior design officers to ask, compare the price.

2. Furniture

TV set, wardrobe, bed, bedside, study table, kitchen set, shoe rack, book case, etc.

3. Curtain

Besides the model, you need to exactly know the size of your window and balcony door before ordering.

4. Electronics

TV, DVD, stereo, dispenser, refrigerator, microwave, etc

5. Miscellaneous

Cover sheet, lamp, hanger, wallpaper, mirror, room freshener, accessories, etc

I used to work on a project of establishing a school. This apartment is kinda similar because it starts with just an empty room. The difference is the apartment is my very own.

Despite the fact that I went to doctor three times in a row the last 6 days for different problems (lung infection, hearing problem and massive allergic), I still managed to arrange everything needed for my apartment alone. So proud of myself!

Hi there! My name is Olivia, I am (almost) 25 single independent woman. I live in my simple yet cozy studio apartment. Oh btw the apartment is on the 21st floor.

Vietnam Travel Note (Day One)

First day in Vietnam, I don't feel like traveling after all. It seems like I never wanted to go to Vietnam as I have rescheduled the trip two times in a row. I supposed to fly on May this year but then I rescheduled to August and later on to October. It is actually my first time traveling alone yet I am not so excited. I even more excited to return back home to see Mom and Dad. I'm going to go to my hometown, Berastagi, after this trip with stopover in Singapore for one day.

I left to Vietnam bringing dozens of medicine as I went to the airport straight away after meeting my doctor. I am feeling alright but I need to swallow 6 different kinds of tablets every day starting from tomorrow.

At the moment, I am staying in a dorm hostel and there are 6 bunk beds inside this room. I am the only female person in here and it is kinda uncomfortable seeing 3 other shirtless guys sleeping just half a meter from me.

First food in Vietnam is Phoo. It is kinda weird to eat the authentic Phoo noodle with so many bean sprouts, basil and lime on it. But it was yumナ really!

I always love traveling and people know me as a little girl who loves traveling. I am not sure why I am not too excited this time. During the flight, all the things which I thought about were what kind of job that will suit me the best? How should I contribute to the development in Indonesia? Why I really want to work in a remote area instead of Jakarta. I think when I start to think everything more serious, I am growing up.

I am not sure if I would love to walk long tomorrow. My feet are still hurt because I accidentally twisted my ankle yesterday. I should have used taxi when wearing wedges, not Trans Jakarta.

After mumbling through my writing, I am kinda sleepy now. I'll edit this post tomorrow.

Good nite.

Love,

Olivia
