Dehumanizing Human Through Technology

Technology aims to ease human’s life, ultimately.

Yet I always have it in my mind that technology only brings us into dehumanization, into destruction.

Do people tend to be happier when there is less technology?

Seems like humanity starts to use technology into a wrong direction.

For example instead of connecting people, Facebook tends to make the users feeling insecure because their friends on Facebook only share the happy moment in their life.

It makes you feel miserable, doesn't it?

Well at least it makes me feel miserable, especially when I am in my lowest mood.

One of our greatest inventions of the century, ‘smart phone’ only increases a physiological anomaly named OCD.

Checking the screen all the time, even when there is nothing truly important to anticipate. Facebook update, Twitter update, emails and SMS (the last expected one).

I don’t use my phone when I am traveling and it seems like I am happier without it.

Despite the fact that I have less pressure when I travel, having no phone disconnects me from many things that I should not even get in touch with.

Leaving me alone without those hi-tech devices enables me find back myself.

I talk to myself genuinely, I give attention to beautiful small things around, I appreciate my existence, and I do many other activities, which I would never do when technology (or internet to be specific) sucks my attention.

Maybe it is about self-control because I heard they said ‘use technology wisely’ multiple times.

But in this capitalized world with well-developed consumerism culture, what people (or capitalist) care the most is how to make you addicted to technology so you will replace your old technology with the most advance ones that you don't even need yet.

The industry creates the demands rather than meet the natural demands.

So maybe I should just start having a day without technology myself.

Spending the whole day reading real books, practice yoga and guitar.

Not even opening my phone or laptop.

It is not easy in today’s world where everyone is addicted to as well as connected through technology.

But I guess there is times where we need our ‘me’ time.

And I need one myself without technology. Tech, you suck!
